Golden Globe Race 2026
Retro, solo, non-stop around the world
The Race
The Golden Globe Race is a solo, non-stop sailing competition around the world, inspired by the original Sunday Times Golden Globe Race of 1968. The race challenges sailors to navigate the globe without modern technology, using only traditional navigation methods. Participants start from Les Sables-d'Olonne, France, and will from there navigate the world east bound south of all the capes.
More people have been to space than the once that has sailed around the capes like this.
The race is approximately 30.000 nautical miles long, and will take about 270 days to finish. We have to navigate only using the stars and a sextant. We will be all alone. No assistance is allowed and you can not stop anywhere. The boats have to be designed before 1988, and be between 32-36 foot. It is a true sailing race for anyone that got the courage to do so. No wonder not more people have done this.
Only a handful of people have finished the race, and it is truly a unique race nothing like anything else.
