I just did a thing. A classic Mara moment. I just signed up for Golden Globe Race! And if you are not either in shock, or just a little bit worried for me now, it means I need to tell you a bit more about what this is.

The GGR is a retro sailing race where the rules are simple: You are gonna sail singlehanded, non-stop around the world in a sailboat with 1968-technology.

That means:

  • you are ALONE

  • you will be at sea for approximately 9 months

  • you must navigate only using a sextant

Actually, that means:

  • I will be alone

  • I will be at sea for approximately 9 months

You see what I mean? Pretty darn crazy AMAZING! But stay tuned there is more,

As I am writing this I do not have a boat, I do not have the required solo miles in a boat, and to be honest, I got NO CLUE what is waiting for me. But I am not gonna let that stop me! And as I learn and prepare for this race, I want to take you with me on my journey. I am documenting the journey from starting to look into joining the race to finishing the race.
